What is a trichologist?
A qualified trichologist is considered an expert in hair loss and scalp conditions. A comprehensive list is detailed below which outlines the most common conditions that lead to hair loss of scalp disorders.
Many of the conditions listed below may be helped. Please note that severity varies. In any case where you are suffering from a hair loss or scalp disorder and are concerned, professional advice is always the best option. Self diagnosis can be dangerous.
When considering hair loss as a whole, it should be noted that they come in several categories.
1. Acute hair loss & scalp conditions - that can in most cases be treated.
2. Traction hair loss - if caught soon enough the hair shedding may return to that of the norm.
3. Androgen related hair loss conditions - may be stabilised with the correct course of treatment which may involve specialist advice from other professional services such as your GP, an endocrinologist or a gynecologist.
4. Androgenetic hair loss conditions - relating to hereditary hair loss. Advice on possible solutions can be sought in this case.
